Lorraine Taylor Obituary

Lorraine was born Tuesday, December 19, 1950 to Thomas and Louise McGinnis in The Pas, Manitoba; she was the youngest of eleven children. Lorraine’s early years of school were spent in Wanless, Manitoba where she attended the Red Brick School and then in The Pas. Lorraine married her childhood sweetheart Jack Taylor in The Pas in 1971. After about a decade of marriage they went their separate ways and were divorced but over the years remained friends. Lorraine was the mother of six children: Troy, Jason, Tanya, Chrystal, Steven, and Clinton. Grandmother of twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two great grandchildren on the way. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews whom she loved all dearly. Family was very important to Lorraine. Over the years Lorraine has lived in Wanless, The Pas, Merit, BC, Fort McMurray, Alberta, but home was always Wanless. Lorraine’s life was her children and always making sure they were number one and as her children moved out and started a family of their own she decided that she wanted to continue her education and she took many different courses: completed upgrading, Commercial Cooking, Health Care Aide. Lorraine was a very hard working independent woman, and worked in different jobs over the years like health care aide, cook, housekeeping, home care. Lorraine was a nature lover. Over the years she loved to go berry picking, fishing, spending time at Rocky Lake with family and friends. Family BBQ’s were always a great time and during these BBQ’s Jason would always start a water fight and everyone would run to mom and try to hide behind her because we all knew that Jason wouldn’t dare throw water on mom. Ha! Ha! She loved being in the outdoors whether it be just sitting enjoying a cup of tea in her yard or walking around the community, walking her dogs. She was a big animal lover, always willing to take in animals if people ever asked and she will be greatly missed by her companion (cat) Skittles. Lorraine liked to do volunteering for the community. Whenever she could, she loved attending the community functions like mini trappers and Christmas concerts when her kids were younger. Lorraine liked to enjoy herself and always attended the Wanless socials and she could never say no to her girls when they wanted to tag along with mom. In the last year and a half of Lorraine’s life, she fought cancer and on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 Lorraine lost her battle with cancer and passed peacefully with all of her family by her side, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 65 years. Lorraine is survived by her children Troy (Tracey), Jason, Tanya (Maurice), Chrystal, Steven (Terrie), Clinton; grandchildren Michael (Crystal), Jacelynne (Conner), Alexandra, Simaira, Joseph, Jullisa, Terilyn, Jerrit, Austin, Tia, Tanis, Jade; great grandchildren Andres and Jaxon; two great grandchildren on the way; brothers Charlie, Tom, Vern (Tootie), Leonard, Marie (John); and numerous nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, cousins and other family members too numerous to mention. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Louise; sister Betty; brothers John, Kenneth, Eugene, Clarence; father-in-law Joseph Taylor; mother-in-law Margret Garay; and other family members.
