Lorraine Tilden THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Lorraine Tilden

It is with great sadness that Lorraine’s family announces her sudden passing Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at her home, age 70 years. Lorraine was born May 16, 1940 in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. She was united in marriage to Donald Tilden, July 11, 1959. After she and our Dad had married, Mom relocated to Stony Rapids, Saskatchewan where her eldest, Colleen was born. After the arrival of Colleen, she and Dad moved to Sherridon, Manitoba. However, once a year had passed, our family had moved to Cranberry Portage before eventually moving to The Pas. Throughout the years living in The Pas, Mom had worked as a waitress at the Paris Café until her husband had to leave for work as a Diamond Driller. From there she made the decision to stay home and raise her children. Mom was the second child of 12 and eldest daughter of Toni Leach and Severe Villeneuve. Lorraine will be greatly missed by her children Colleen (Gord Brant), Gail, Boyd, Tracey and Darrell; grandchildren Lisa, Samantha, Terry and Nicole; great grandchildren Rhys, Cruz and Annie; sisters Darlene Dorion, Laurette (Raymond) Campbell, Terry (David) McKellep, Christine Martin, Toni Lee Chastellaine; brothers Frank (Margaret) Villeneuve, David (Rose) Villeneuve, Dennis (Mariann) Leach; brothers-in-law Richard (Carol) Tilden and Bill Arnold; numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Donald Tilden; parents Antoinette Leach and Severe Villeneuve; mother-in-law Josephine Tilden; father-in-law Joseph Tilden; brothers Donald Villeneuve, Leonard Chastellaine and Joseph Patrick Villeneuve; sister Yvonne Arnold; brothers-in-law Don Dorion and Robert Tilden; aunt Josette Olafson, cousin Shirley Cochrane; nephew Brian Dorion. A wake service was held Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the Margaret Henderson Parish Hall, Church of Redeemer, Opaskwayak Cree Nation. The funeral service for Lorraine was held Monday, May 2, 2011, 1:00 pm at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, The Pas, Manitoba with James Hemauer presiding. Interment followed at Lakeside Cemetery, The Pas, Manitoba. Pallbearers were Boyd Tilden, Joe Villeneuve, David Dorion, Derek Villeneuve, Dean Dorion, Vernon Campbell, Dennis Leach and David Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Bennett, Trevor Bennett, Todd Bennett, Al Raike and Corey Pfeiffer, family and friends of Lorraine can also consider themselves honorary pallbearers. If friends so desire, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6, would be appreciated by Lorraine’s family. Our family (Colleen, Gail, Boyd, Tracey and Duck) would like to give special thanks to our Aunty Darlene (our mother’s sister) and Trevor Dorion in guiding us to make preparations for our mother’s sudden passing. We would like to thank Hemauer Funeral Home for helping us to understand and answer our questions on what we had to do and to James for being the minister for our mother’s service. We would like to thank all the other family members; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends of the family for helping with the hall and food preparations. Thank you to Eileen Rock for her support and to the OCN Singers for singing as many knew that our mother also loved to sing. Thank you to all our family and friends for coming as we gather to celebrate the life of our mother Lorraine.
