Marius Bighetty, known to many as Miles, was born Wednesday, July 13, 1932 in Pukatawagan, Manitoba to Marcel and Maggie Bighetty.
Miles lived his entire life in Pukatawagan. Throughout his life, Miles worked for CNR on the Extra Gang for roughly 17 years. He met Margaret Bird in Pukatawagan and they were married and celebrated many happy years together.
After Margaret’s passing, Miles quit the CNR and followed his love of nature, trapping and fishing off the land.
Miles had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes on his family and friends.
Faith was very important to Miles and he experienced this through the teachings of nature and enjoyed going to church.
His favorite pastime was spending it with his grandchildren and he taught them the importance of respect and living off the land.
Miles passed away peacefully, with family by his side, Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 80 years.
Miles is survived by his children Alfred Bighetty, Marcel Bighetty, Margaret (George) Thomas, and Ava Caribou; grandchildren Jason, Jeffrey, James, Kayla, Allan, Alfred, Georgina; adopted brothers and sisters through marriage, Philothie (Joe) Linklater, Genevieve (Oliver) Caribou, Celestine Colomb, Gabriel Colomb; and numerous other family members.
Miles was predeceased by his wife Margaret Bighetty (nee Bird); parents Marcel and Maggie Bighetty (nee Pascal); siblings George Colomb, Blandine Daniels, Charlie Bighetty; and many relatives too numerous to mention.
