Marvin Coad Obituary

Marvin was born Monday, December 14th, 1942 in the place he would call home for the rest of his life. Marvin met his wife Olga E. Woroniuk in 1963, and they were married in 1964. The Pas was good to Marvin and Olga. They were blessed with four loving children. The eldest of which is Desmin, followed by Garth, Camille, and Carmen Coad. Marvin’s father Laine was the founding member of “The Pas Farmers Association” and his son had the love of farming in his blood as well. Marvin would call The Pas home, and commute daily to the farm and this was the life he enjoyed. He was a dedicated farmer, and like his dad before him, he would do this for over 40 years. Marvin was an active volunteer in the Legion bingos. He would also help many of the The Pas less fortunate citizens with their income taxes and expected little or nothing in return. Marvin was a caring man, and would often take his children and grandchildren into town to be spoiled, taking them out for treats, first movies, and whatever fun that would cross their path. He would coach his boys in baseball, and offer any part of him he could for them. He also coached hockey and baseball in the community. Marvin was very good at mathematics, and shared his ability to play craps with his daughter Carmen at the age of 6. He was a very honest man, and you knew where you stood with him, quite a refreshing change to the way the world operates today. Marvin was known for his quick wit, memory, and intelligence, gifts that would be passed on to his children who to this day are very successful parents and strong entrepreneurs in their own communities. From his children he was blessed with five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Courtney, Brie, Arize, Danica, and Julian would be the grandchildren he cherished, followed by his great grandchildren Mason and Lainey. Marvin’s legacy spanned over four generations before his passing. Marvin passed away peacefully with family by his side, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, age the age of 73 years. Marvin leaves saddened by his passing his sisters Jessie (Frank), Isabel (Ed); nephews and nieces Kenneth, twins Holly and Heather, Chris, Karen and Susan. Family and friends gathered to celebrate Marvin’s life and share stories, Saturday, February 13, 2016, 11:00 am, at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, Manitoba. A reception followed at the Royal Canadian Legion Club Room, followed by an interment at Lakeside Cemetery, The Pas, Manitoba. In friends so desire, donations to The Pas Health Complex Foundation, Inc., Memorial Fund, Palliative Care Division, Box 541, The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1K6, would be appreciated by Marvin’s family.
