Mary Campbell Obituary

Mary was born Thursday, June 30, 1938 in Moose Lake, Manitoba. She was united in marriage to Freddrick Joseph Campbell, June 5, 1956. Mary went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 18, 2012, at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 73 years. The Greeks say, “Let me not tell you how she died, but let me tell you how she lived.” Mom raised ten of us, five boys and five girls. Every time when we would see her, she would tell us, she loved us and to live life to the fullest. To share what we had, even if it was just a glass of water. Mom loved cooking and every time she prepared dinner and supper, anyone that came into her house she invited them to sit down and eat, always making pastry treats. Her hobby was sitting behind the sewing machine, making quilts., watching her programs on TV like the “Price Is Right”, “Wheel of Fortune” and “Little House on the Prairie” while doing her knitting, making socks, slippers and arm warmers. Mom had no education. She taught herself how to read and write.. When Dad left us, it was very hard. She raised ten of us in a time when there was not any water works, electric heat or pampers. She raised us and would manage to make a meal with what little she had. “Good job Mom, very good job. We are all very proud of you.” We would like to thank Mrs. Betsy and her late husband Mr. Louie George Buck for their friendship they had to our Dad even though he had passed, sharing with what he killed, when he went hunting, in supporting my Mom and us. When it was getting harder and harder to make ends meet, she went to work for Moose Lake Loggers as a cook, sometimes for tree planters and firefighters, sacrificing her life that we would have a better life. When Mom was asked, “How come you never remarried?” She replied, “I’ve already found a perfect man, I don’t need another man in my life.” When Mom succumbed to illness, her spirit was never broken, it made her stronger when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal saviour. Mary is survived by her children Harvey (Connie) Campbell and family, Garry (Madeline) Campbell and family, Sylvia (Leonard) Ballantyne and family, Emily (Kelvin) Knight and family, Murray (Barbara) Campbell and family, Diane (Steve) Vlahous and family, Delores (Terrance) Knight and family, Georgina (Eugene) Genialle and family, Fred Campbell and Louie Campbell; brothers Albert Ballantyne, Harvey Ballantyne, Laddie Ballantyne, Harry Ballantyne; sisters Linda Ballantyne, Mae Petrie (nee Ballantyne); godchildren Marlene Campbell, Delbert Campbell; closest friends Geraldine “Jelly” Buck, Lucy Ballantyne, Aunt Rose Ballantyne, Jennifer Umpherville, Selena Sinclair, Betsy Buck, Mr and Mrs Bill Cook, Linda Buck, Ruth Campbell, Martina; and many family and friends, too numerous to mention.
