Melvin Bilinski THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Melvin Bilinski

Mel passed away peacefully after a yearlong battle. He succumbed to his illness while in hospital at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB, Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the age of 68 years. Mel was born Thursday, December 9, 1948 and was raised in Saskatoon, SK. In the late 60's, Mel moved to Winnipeg, MB where he met Sue. After they were married, they moved north to The Pas, MB, where they lived for over 30 years and raised their family. In 1984, Mel and Sue were able to purchase a cabin in Cranberry Portage, MB. Mel loved being at the lake and the family spent as much time there as possible. After he retired, Mel started living at the lake full time, at which point they sold the house in The Pas and became full time residents of Cranberry Portage. He enjoyed tinkering on things and helping people whenever he could. Predeceased by his parents, Janice (Kinar) and Joseph Bilinski. Mel is survived by his wife Sue; son Michael Bilinski; daughters Nikki (Ryan) Hubbard and Angie (Marty) Friedrich; brother Merv (Karen Potter) and Millie Dyck, who was like a sister to Mel. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Hunter and Alyssa Hubbard, James Green and Colby Friedrich; and his constant four legged companion, Kita. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff on 4D at HSC and to Dr. Lamba and Dr. Houston for their kindness throughout Mel’s time with them. In keeping with family wishes, cremation took place and a service of remembrance to celebrate Mel’s life was held Saturday, April 15, 2017, 1:00 pm, at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, Manitoba, with James Hemauer presiding. A reception was held for family and friends at the Norlite Hall, The Pas. If desired, donations can be made to the MDS Foundation at www.MDS-Foundation.org, or to a charity of your choice.
