Phillip Lathlin Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving father Zorro. Our dad passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba. He was 63 years old. Our dad was a caring, loving father who always tried to teach us right from wrong. He was always concerned about what was going on in our lives and was always there to give us advice. His pride and joy was his boy Whitecloud, he always encouraged him to continue his education and make something of his life. Whitecloud moved in with his dad in January and they were always together, he was so happy when he was with his boy. He loved him so much and Whitecloud also took care of his dad and was always there for him. “My dad always wanted what was best for me and wanted me to make the best choices. I was never bored around the house, he always had something for me to do, this is why I am a hard worker today. He was never home, he would always be at the mall or would be out visiting with his friends. Last but not least, there wasn’t a day that he would say he loves all his kids. I love you dad and I will never forget you :’)” - Whitecloud. “Dad was very humorous and loved having the last word. Especially when he would have a “debate” with me. Dad loved making his special Timmy’s order to me, three steeped teas. I would always be quick to get his order to him. He would sit with his Timmy’s and start up a new discussion where dad was always right at the end. Dad was very generous and loved helping people in any way he could. He showed us that it was important to help others by leading by example. Dad was Elvis’ #1 fan. He was known as OCN’s Elvis. He was often heard ordering the “Elvis Special” at his favourite restaurant, Golden Star Chinese restaurant. I can’t believe you’re gone, I love you dad and I will miss hearing your voice.” Your son Clay. “If you ever hear Elvis music playing its very likely it’s being played from our daddy. He was always dressed in black and humming or singing an Elvis tune. He enjoyed sitting around at the mall chumming around with his friends. He always had a different story of how strangers complimented him that he looked so much like Elvis. He was always very proud and would brag about being compared to Elvis, his idol. He admired Elvis so much that he named his first grandchild Elvis Aaron and his daughter Lisa-Marie. Halloween was his favourite time when he could wear his custom made Elvis costume. He took great pleasure and spent a whole lot of time creating the perfect outfit. Our daddy was a wise man who always had the right words to say to encourage you or help you see things clearly. Our daddy loved and enjoyed being around his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, whenever he phoned either of us he would always ask, “How are the kids doing?” Our daddy was loving, caring, strong minded, courageous and a very handsome man, we will all miss him so very much. I love you daddy.” Love Lisa-Marie and Joyce. Grampa was so special and he loved us all very much, he was a caring and loving grampa. We will miss you and will never forget you grampa… rest in peace in heaven. Love from all your grandchildren.
