René Lamontagne THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

René Lamontagne

Rene Gustave Joseph Lamontagne, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away at his home, Tuesday May 21, 2013. He was 51 years old. Rene was born Monday, January 15, 1962, in Snow Lake, Manitoba, to Ramona and Rene Sr. Rene grew up in Snow Lake before leaving home at 14 to learn his trade in the drywall and painting business with his uncle, Jerry Lambert. Eventually, Rene went on his own and started his own construction business in the late 1980’s. The business became increasingly difficult to run after breaking his hip in 1990. Rene was a smart, well-read man, and graduated from Business Administration at Red River College in Winnipeg in 1995. Rene was a voracious reader, sometimes reading 3 to 4 books a week; he was never found without a book close by. Rene's other hobbies in the past also included motorcycles, hockey and fishing. He was planning to buy a Harley Davidson and a motor home to tour Canada, along with Gabrielle and Marge. His hobby in the last year of his life was second hand shops where he and Marge had so much fun finding all the treasures. Rene was extremely proud of his Metis heritage and collected art work by many First Nations artists. Rene's most cherished person in the world was his daughter Gabrielle. She was his everything. Rene will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marge; daughter Gabrielle; father Rene Sr.; sisters Marie (Rick) and Annette; brother Gerard (Roxanne); nephews Dustin (Faneeza), Ian, Jordy, Tanner, Dylan, Chase; nieces Jade, Danielle, and Joellee; mother-in-law Betty Hall; great nieces and nephews; Isabelle, Cole, Addison, Raina and Riel. Rene was predeceased by his mother Ramona; her partner Joe; sister Doris; cousin Daniel (Wanda and Jerry); and father-in-law Harold Hall. Because Rene had a special place in his heart for our two dogs, Serena and Axl, donations in his memory may be made to the Humane (SPCA) Society of your choice. ˜™Service of Remembrance Thursday, May 30, 2013 2:00 pm Our Lady of the Snows Roman Catholic Church Snow Lake, Manitoba Presider: Rev.
