He was predeceased by his father Percy Warner; mother Florence (Wade); father-in-law Lorne Bunn; mother-in-law Winifred Bunn; and his brother Jack Warner. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law Roy, Ron, Alan and Jim Bunn, Hugh McVicar and John Cran; sisters-in-law Ruth Bunn, Lois Bunn and Norma Booth-Bunn. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Carole (Bunn); daughter Glenys (Gary) Lagimodiere; son Brent (Michelle) Warner; grandsons Brett and Sean Lagimodiere; daughter Wendy Warner. Also left to mourn Robert’s loss and to cherish childhood memories is his sister Marion McVicar; brother-in-law Hugh Bunn; sisters-in-law Beth, Irma and Sylvia Bunn and Doreen Cran; numerous nieces and nephews, family members and friends. As a young boy growing up in Elstow, SK, Dad began working at an early age with his father at the grain elevator and later, in 1944 at the age of 16 years, he tried so very hard to join the air force. Dad wanted so much to be like his older brother Jack and fly airplanes; however, being too young to join did not hold him back, Dad saved what he could to purchase a bicycle so he too could do his part, he delivered telegrams in the Saskatoon, SK area for the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II. Dad later worked for the Canadian National Railway which brought him many adventures. He had the privilege to meet the Prime Minister of Canada, John Diefenbaker and serve on his private rail car in Saskatchewan. The CN Rail brought Dad to Northern Manitoba where he met Carole Bunn in 1959. Dad became interested in the art of cooking, a lifelong skill where he mastered the art of the best barbequed steak. Dad purchased Warner’s Lunch restaurant from his cousin Len Warner in 1960, and in 1962 he opened another restaurant, Mr. Bob's, located in the Cambrian Hotel in The Pas. Dad will always be fondly remembered as Mr. Bob. In July of 1961 Bob and Carole were married and they raised their family in The Pas and Clearwater Lake, MB where they shared many fond memories with their children. Dad ventured into many opportunities, he worked as a property manager for various properties over the years including those of CFI and Manfor in The Pas, he was a real estate and property consultant, worked as a broker for whatever you needed to be found, he was a commissionaire, but at the core he was a true entrepreneur at heart always looking at what could be done. Dad loved to travel and explore the great gifts life had to offer and in 1993 Bob and Carole decided to move to Victoria, BC where they enjoyed life on Vancouver Island exploring and meeting new people, many wonderful people who became close friends. In the last few years, Dad especially enjoyed the Parksville, Surfside RV lifestyle where they spent their summers and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends, old and new. Dad found great joy in being a pilot, he became a pilot in 1945 and relicensed in 1976. Dad flew to many destinations throughout North America and experienced many adventures. Dad also had the great mis-fortune to land his Cherokee 180 on the world’s largest runway, the Trans-Canada highway on route to Thunder Bay, ON. Always landing on his feet, Dad tried to make every situation the best possible. Dad was forever a busy man always planning his next trip, when he could no longer fly an airplane he travelled in his much-loved motor home. Dad loved his family deeply and cherished his many, many friends, and if the true measure of a man is in the company he keeps, our father was a genuine guy. Dad was truly blessed with many wonderful people in his life. With the multiple health issues Dad lived with in his later years, he always remained positive, he took everything in stride and he wanted only to move forward and get on with what he had to do. Dad always tried to work around everything that would have held him back from doing what he wanted to do, he would only do it his way. Now Dad has begun his next journey, surely to be filled with many adventures and lots of love! Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone for their love and support during this difficult time and most appreciatively to everyone in the Hemodialysis centers for the care Dad received over the past 4 years in Victoria, Port Alberni and Nanaimo, BC and in The Pas, MB, as well as the many centers he received care throughout western Canada and the United States including Hawaii. A special thanks to the paramedics of Victoria, BC, Drs. McNaughton, Morgan and Weir and the many wonderful support staff. A gathering of family and friends took place in Parksville, British Columbia, Sunday, May 13, 2012 for a celebration of life. A graveside service and interment was held Saturday, July 7, 2012, 2:00 pm at Lakeside Cemetery, The Pas, Manitoba with Jim Atkins presiding. If friends so desire, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6,or the Kidney Foundation – British Columbia Branch, 200 – 4940 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC, V5G 4K6, would be appreciated by Bob’s family.
