Rosie was born Thursday, September 13, 1956 in Porcupine Plains, Saskatchewan. She began her life in Dillabough, Saskatchewan, and attended school in Weeks, Saskatchewan until the beginning of grade 7 when the family moved to The Pas. Rosie completed her education in The Pas and graduated from MBCI in 1976. Rosie met Jack in 1973 and they were married on September 4, 1976. Three years later in 1979 their son Jerry was born. In her later years she went back to school and received her diploma of educational assistant from Brandon University. She also worked at the Bay, Royal Bank, Friendship Centre, TD Bank. Together with Jack, they owned and operated Broadway Confectionary for 4 years. After they sold Broadway, she began a new career as a stay at home mom for Jerry and a foster mom to many. Then Rosie began her favorite career with Kelsey School Division working at Mary Duncan, MBCI, Opasquia School and Scott Bateman where she was employed at the time of her passing. Rosie was a big sister, mother and friend to everyone and touched many lives in many ways over the years. She had a great love of garage sales, crafts, Christmas, Halloween, collecting angels, and pulling pranks on anyone she could. Her greatest loves were her husband, son and the many pets she had over the years. Lola and Bella are still waiting for her to come home as they watch for her in the window. They look up at the sky as if they know where she is. Rosie passed away suddenly Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba. Rosie was predeceased by her mother Ella Shawaga; father-in-law Denis Hebert; stepfather-in-law Herb Middlestead; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, too numerous to mention. Rosie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jack; son Jerry; father Bill Shawaga; mother-in-law Joyce Middlestead; sisters-in-law Judy Rae, Jill Calder; brothers and sisters James Shawaga, Jackie (Mark) Paterson, Lana (Bob) Harvey, Walter (Angie) Shawaga, Iris Gareau, Kathy Johnson (Jamal), Dodie Shawaga (Brad), Patsy Shawaga (Trent), Linda Shawaga; nieces and nephews Mandy (Jeff) Robinson, Sabrina (Chris) Allen, Tabatha Harvey, Jance Gareau, Amy (Brad) Mann, Kera de Tremaudan, Andre “A J” de Tremaudan, Desirae (Chad) Johnson, Brittany Johnson (Brady), Sarah Shawaga, Alesha Shawaga, Rachel Shawaga, Aaron Shawaga, Christina Swanson, Elizabeth Swanson, Mark Higham, Jimmy Calder, Ken Calder; great nieces and nephews Gage Robinson, Isabella Robinson, Liam Kitson, Ella Kitson, Bella Atchison, Blaze Atchison, Olivia Allen, Madilyn Allen; and Rosie’s special fur family Bella and Lola. The funeral service for Roseanne was held Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, The Pas, Manitoba with James Hemauer presiding. Memories of the heart were shared by Jack Hebert, Jill Calder and Kelly Wadelius. Pallbearers were all Rosie’s sisters, Jackie Paterson, Lana Harvey, Iris Gareau, Dodie Shawaga, Kathy Johnson, Patsy Shawaga, Linda Shawaga. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Rosie’s family and friends. A private family interment was held at Lakeside Cemetery, The Pas, Manitoba. A reception was held for family and friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to The Paw Local Dog Rescue, Grub Box Charity #992, or Box 641, The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1K7.
