Ruth Peppler

Our Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt pass away peacefully at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home, The Pas, MB, Friday, May 16, 2014, at the age of 92 years. Ruth was born Sunday, August 21, 1921 at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg at a young age and attended Lord Roberts School and Kelvin High, completing high school at St. Charles Convent at St. Charles, Manitoba. During the war years she taught school at Davis Point, Manitoba near St. Martin, Manitoba. She married Ken Castle and on February 16, 1945 they had one daughter, Vivian. Eventually Ruth moved back to Winnipeg and in 1967 she married Alexander Peppler. Ruth worked at the Canadian Wheat Board and the Co-op Consumer before her retirement. In 1997 Ruth moved from Winnipeg and bought a house at The Pas, Manitoba so she could be closer to her daughter and her family. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Margaret Harkess; her brother George; husband, Alexander Peppler and daughter, Vivian Maksymetz. Ruth is survived by her sister Flo Kitson (Portage la Prairie, MB); brothers Mac Harkess (Winnipeg, MB) and Glen Harkess (Portage la Prairie, MB); son-in-law Sylvester Maksymetz (The Pas, MB); granddaughter Kelly (Tracy) McConnell (Estevan, SK); granddaughter Kristal (Brently) Gluska (The Pas, MB); grandson Kirby (Tara) Maksymetz (Winnipeg, MB); great grandchildren Kallie, Kash, Bristol, Brenson, Ethan and Troy and numerous nieces and nephews.
