Sean McGinnis THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Sean McGinnis

Sean was born Saturday, December 2, 1995, at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Leslie McGinnis. When Sean was three, Curtis Lavallee came into his life and an unbreakable father-son bond was created. Sean attended school in The Pas. He was an outgoing and happy child and made many friends who are still his friends to this day. In his younger years Sean loved to play video games. He enjoyed spending time at Clearwater Lake with Tim, Candi and Blake and also spent time every summer at Simon House Bible Camp. He loved riding his bike, playing soccer and hanging out with his many friends. When Sean was 10, he became a big brother to Matthew. From the day Matthew was born, Sean became the best big brother any little boy could ever have, hanging out, teasing each other and loving each other’s company. When Sean was 17 he welcomed step-brother Josh into the family. Sean had two dogs, Sami and Maggie. They were his constant companions and he spoiled them as often as he could. Throughout Sean’s high school years he developed a love for travelling and found his passion for music, writing and DJ’ing. He was happiest playing music in front of a group of people and getting them up to dance. After graduating in 2013 Sean went to Vancouver Island to work and spend time with family. This was a wonderful experience for Sean but he decided where he needed to be was at home in The Pas. At the time of his passing Sean was working at Aseneskak Casino and hoped to move up to Slot Attendant because he said, “That’s where they make the best tips.” He had also recently applied to work at Tolko for the annual shutdown which might then lead to a full time job. Sean’s ultimate dream was to become DJ SEVN. Sean passed away accidentally, Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the age of 20 years. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Sean leaves to cherish his memory, his parents Leslie McGinnis and Curtis Lavallee; brother Matthew and stepbrother Josh Dram; grandparents Vern and Ellen McGinnis, Sonny and Orra Lavallee; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sean was predeceased by his grandmother Catherine McGinnis; great grandparents Joseph and Frances Van Hee, Thomas and Louise McGinnis, Helen and Edward Lavallee, Irene and Donald Lindsay; great uncle Lewis Connell; cousins Jessica Dorion and Nicole Van Hee. A service of remembrance to celebrate Sean’s life was held Friday, May 6, 2016, 1:00 pm, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, The Pas, Manitoba, with Rev. William Peacock presiding. A reception for family and friends was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, The Pas, Manitoba.
