Solomon Cook

Solomon leaves to mourn his passing, his partner, Yvonne; daughter Rosemary; his special granddaughter Teresa (Tagie) and her three children who were Sol’s pride and joy. Also mourning his passing are his sisters Marie Olson (Oscar), Yvonne Cook (Franklin), Virginia Arthurson (Ralph), Dorothy Hutchison (Richard), Marilyn Cook, Helen Armstrong (Garth); and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends too numerous to mention. Solomon was predeceased by his mom and dad, Daniel and Angelic Cook; brothers Norman, John, Russell, Walter, Danny; sisters Audrey Sinclair, Grace McLeod; brother-in-law Hubert Sinclair. He was born in Grand Rapids, Friday, April 26, 1935. He lived there most of his life. Solomon worked all his life. He spent his youth fishing and trapping with his dad and his brothers. He worked many years for Manitoba Hydro as a lineman, stringing the transmission lines from here to the north. He spent his adult life fishing on Lake Winnipeg, which he enjoyed. Later on, he owned and operated Cook’s Campground at Cross Lake. When he finally started to slow down, he returned to trapping in the wilderness around Grand Rapids, in which he took great pleasure. Solomon passed away, Friday, May 17, 2013 at his home in Grand Rapids, Manitoba, at the age of 78 years. Solomon’s family and friends and all other people he came into contact with, will miss him.
