Stephen Head THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Stephen Head

Stephen was born Saturday, November 25, 1944 in The Pas, Manitoba to Albert and Mary Ann Head. Stephen attended school at the Big Eddy Reserve Day School and M.B.C.I. and received his social work certificate in Thompson, Manitoba. He worked on the Extra Gang for the Railroad, River Saw Mill, Repap, OCN Housing, Otineka Mall, Iskonekun School, Awasis Agency, OCN Child and Family, MMF in Thompson, Manitoba and a Councillor for OCN for many years. Stephen enjoyed Bingo, playing slots, maintaining his home and travelling as well as watching the Game Show Channel with Family Feud and The Price Is Right, among his favorites. He also enjoyed coaching with his brother-in-law Abraham Lathlin and his good friend Charles Harris. Both Stephen and Mary fostered many children over the years. Stephen was mischievous and liked teasing and joking around. He loved helping people with what he could do and was known for giving good advice. He had a soft spot for his grandchildren. He told Mary’s sisters to take care of her after he was gone. He said, “I will always be around to watch over you and my grandchildren.” On New Years Day, Mary said to Stephen, “Happy New Year.” He looked at her with a big smile on his face and he clearly spoke and said, “Happy New Year.” Then she leaned over to kiss him and they both told each other, “I love you.” Stephen passed away peacefully with family by his side, Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his home on Opaskwayak Cree Nation, at the age of 68 years.
