Theresa Lindsay THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Theresa Lindsay

Terry (Theresa) Lindsay (Garton) was born August 27, 1938 in Winnipeg MB at the St. Boniface hospital. She was raised on Broken Head Reserve by her father. Her mother passed away when she was very young, so her father (Wilfred) raised her and her brother Willie. When she moved to The Pas she met Charles Garton and even though they were never married they spent 20 years together and had 4 beautiful daughters, Heather, Diane, Rosemary and Valerie. Terry spent her adult life working as a dietary aid at St. Anthony Hospital in The Pas, MB. She was very passionate about her job and the people she worked with, always ready with a hug or a smile for her co-workers or patients. When Charles and her went their separate ways she moved into the highrise (Northern View Lodge) 5th floor, a couple years later she met the love of her life Don Lindsay. On November 25, 2000 at the Northern View Lodge they were married with close friends and family there to celebrate their love. Don was her true love and they spent many years together. After Terry was diagnosed with Dementia she moved to the 3rd floor assisted living where her best friend Brenda Reinfort was there for her every day to make her laugh and calm fears when she was feeling overwhelmed. Terry loved walking, her favourite spot was the river where she could sit on the bench and think. After Don passed away it was the spot where she felt most connected to him, she would sit there for hours thinking of the love they shared. Terry had many hobbies some of which included knitting, crosswords, puzzles and laughing. She really only had one thing she didn’t like and that was liver! Terry was a beautiful person with a heart of gold, and her smile would light up every room she walked into. She always took care of everyone else first regardless of what was going on in her own life; she was a person you could count on for solid advice or just a shoulder to cry on. Terry passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 77 years. Terry is survived by her daughters Heather (Eric), Rosemary, Diana, Valerie (Gary); grandchildren Jeremy, Jolene (Jody), Jason (Ryane), Sierra, Torri, Abby, Isaiah, Justin, Cody, Regis, Caitlyn, Gawain; great grandchildren Aiden, Rayna, Karsyn, Ella, and Elijah; and her very best friend Brenda and family. Terry was predeceased by her husband Don Lindsay; father Wilfred Vandal; mother Elizabeth Huppe; and her brother Willie Vandal. Terry’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Anthony’s Hospital and the 3rd floor support staff at Northern View Lodge for all their help and support during the past couple months.
