Obituary

The extended family of Elizabeth Spence are very sad to announce her passing on July 1, 2020 in Churchill, Manitoba. Elizabeth was born on January 4, 1935 to Roderick and Maryanne Redhead.

For most of her life, Elizabeth lived in Churchill. When she could no longer care for herself and required assistance with living, she was placed in the Churchill Health Centre, where she remained for a number of years until her passing.

Elizabeth was an “absolute joy” to the staff at the Centre and it will not be the same without her. She liked to tease and make the staff laugh. She loved it when the staff called her “Queen Elizabeth!”.

She absolutely loved her baths (and would ask daily when it was bath day!). She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done, complete with lipstick and jewellery. She loved to be around children and would light up with the biggest smile when children came to visit. She was an active participant in the activities of the Health Centre.

Elizabeth was pre-deceased by her parents, Roderick and Maryanne, husband Clarence Spence, her children Lawrence, Nellie and Elsie, her long term partner Clifford Ouskan, brothers Jonathan, Johnson, George, John George, William and sister, Denise Beardy.

She leaves behind daughter Sandra and many nephews and nieces.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Nursing staff at the Churchill Health Centre for taking such good care of her all these years. Also, a big thank you to the Boardman Funeral Home and the Fox Lake Cree Nation.
