Raymond Walter Mintenko 85, of Thompson MB, passed away on June 6th, 2019 at Thompson General Hospital.

He was born on the homestead farm in Blue Wing MB on November 24, 1933, son of the late George and Mary Mintenko. He is survived by his spouse, Irene Mintenko, sister Donna Mintenko, and his 5 children, Doug (Karen), Bob (Jane Ann), Dale (Kelly), Linda, Cindy (Brad). He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Quinton and Jason, Jasmine, Chis and Kevin, Kaiden, as well as 7 great grand children.

Ray attended Riding Park School and was involved with sports, scouts and 4-H. Ray met Irene in Russell Manitoba, and married in May of 1955. After completing a heavy mechanics course in Edmonton Ray worked in road construction and at the Snow Lake Mines until he entered into the Trucking Business which he later sold and moved to Thompson family in tow, to work for INCO in May of 1970 and retired in 1994.

He and Irene spent their retirement years at their beloved cabin at Settling Lake that they built from the ground up in the Summers, and as “Winter Texans” in Weslaco Texas. (In Canada he grew, Loved and nurtured a huge garden, and in Texas he grew some vegetables and Loved his Papaya trees).

Ray was always very active in community matters and was always there for the Betterment of Youth in any capacity with respect to Sports (Refereeing, Umpire, Drives Ed, Clinics etc.) both in Canada and an extension to Texas and Mexico. His was a true Humanitarian, never more evident than when he religiously, donated to the Blood Services in Canada and Texas. He had a passion for the outdoors, including Hunting, Fishing, and Exploring.
