Roberta Rhodes Obituary

After a brief and brave battle with cancer, it is with profound sorrow that we announce that Roberta lost her fight at Thompson General Hospital at the tender age of 78 years.

Roberta was born in South Knife Lake, Manitoba and made Thompson her final home at age 41. She grew up in South Knife Lake and shared many fond memories of life as a child. Roberta moved to Churchill and met her future husband and father of her 7 children, Harry Rhodes. Roberta had many talents; the greatest of which was cooking that she turned into her career. Her gift in sewing was of professional quality; producing items from cute outfits for her daughters to beautiful bridesmaids dresses. Roberta enjoyed playing her guitar while her loved ones would sing along with her. Roberta instilled in her children a great faith in the Lord; by quoting scriptures, singing hymns and sharing stories from the bible. Roberta’s greatest of loves was the Lord and her children. Roberta was gentle in nature and always quick to share her love and wisdom. Roberta had a fantastic sense of humour; she loved to laugh and looked for the humour in everything.

Roberta leaves to mourn the father of her children, Harry Rhodes; sons, Henry, Robert (Deb), Kevin (Catherine); daughters, Brenda (Jean-Pierre), Debbie (Gerry); Grandchildren, Candace, Robin (Shane), Bonnie (Joe), Trevor, Lee, Logan (Koral), Arden, Robert, Harry, Brendan, Roger, Holly (Craig); Great grandchildren, Kristen, Kaitlyn (Treston), Aaron, Nicholas, Faith, Sophie, Daisy, Jack, Dakota, Avery and Westin; and Great-great granddaughter Hannah; brothers, Robert (Mitzi), Wilfred; Sister, Alice (Bill) and many nieces and nephews.

Roberta has gone on to join her parents; Henri and Mary; sons, Timothy and Kenneth; siblings; Eva, Tom, Betty and Marie; sister in-law Joanne and grandson Kyle.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held – 2:00pm Friday September 27, 2019 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 132 Greenway Cres, Thompson MB
