Obituary for Anna Moore

MOORE, ANNA - Anna Moore of Perth-Andover passed away at the Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital on the evening of December 23, 2012. Born in Moncton, NB, on April 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edna (Tingley) Brownell. Anna leaves behind her daughter Sylvia Moore of Sussex; son Dr. Peter Moore (Heather) of Tobique Narrows; grandchildren Dr. Geoffrey Moore (Dr. Allison) of Perth-Andover, Kristin (Doug) Petten of Burlington, ON, Peter DeMerchant (Kim Theriault) of Sussex, David DeMerchant of Sussex, Michael DeMerchant of Fredericton; great grandchildren Caleb and Lachlan Moore, and Kira and Luke Petten. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Dr. Gerald F.W. Moore and sister Ruth McLaren. Musically talented, Anna was a well known soloist and tap dancer in the city of Moncton throughout her childhood. Studying music at Mount Allison University she continued her singing career in Montreal and England while her husband Gerald studied medicine. Anna and her family settled in Perth-Andover in 1956. She served as the choir director of St. James United Church for 30 years. Anna was a founding member of the Hotel Dieu hospital auxiliary, President of the local hospital auxiliary and ultimately president of Provincial Hospital Auxiliaries. In her later years, Anna became an avid gardener. She was very well known for her beautiful flowers. Her backyard has been the setting for many wedding over the years. She always welcomed everybody who came to admire her flower gardens. Resting at St. James United Church in Perth-Andover with visitation on Thursday 4 to 7 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11 am from the church. Rev. Sandra Cox officiating. Interment will be in Larlee Creek Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations to the NB Arthritis Society, the Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital Foundation (Dr. G.F.W. Moore Fund), or the St. James United Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
