1948-2010 - The death of Gene Arnold Allen, 62, of Fairview, Alberta, and formerly of Cape Tormentine, NB occurred suddenly on Sunday, June 6, 2010. Born in Amherst, NS, Gene was a son of the late Hugh and Verna (Trenholm) Allen of Bayfield. Gene was working with DeBeers Diamond Mine in the Snap Lake Project (NWT) as a heavy equipment operator. He formerly worked for Irving for 30 years throughout the Maritimes. Gene enjoyed family, friends, fishing, camping and quadding. He especially loved time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by "the other half of a pair of jeans", his wife Jeanne of forty years; two sons, Dale (Angela), Cold Lake, AB, Kevin (Samantha), Fairview, AB; daughter, Rosie (James) Tallack, Fairview, AB. Gene will be greatly missed by his grandchildren; Sebastien, Mitchell, Damian, Donovan, Jalind, and Raylee; two brothers, Harold (Nerie) and David; one sister, Violet (Ted) Wood and his mother-in-law Gertrude Fournier. In addition, he will be dearly missed by his extended family. Gene's arrangements have been entrusted into the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main Street, Port Elgin, NB (506-538-2241) from where visitation will be held 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, June 10, 2010 and again on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 11 am until the time of departure to St. Bartholemew's Roman Catholic Church, Melrose, for a 1 pm funeral service. Father Allison Carroll officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery immediately following.
