Obituary for Irene Killen

KILLEN, IRENE S. - 1917-2011 - Irene S. Killen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29th, 2011, at her home in St. Paul with her family by her side. Born in Glenvale, NB, September 6th, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Howe and Mildred Elizabeth (Tasker) Chapman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Irene retired from the T. Eaton Co., Moncton following 30 years of service, and was a past Grand Matron of the LOOB. She is survived by her daughter Frances Lanteigne (Gerald) of St. Paul, her son Vaughan Killen of Penobsquis, many grandchildren, two great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Irene was pre-deceased by her husband Elwyn P. Killen, her daughter Reta E. Filmore and 12 brothers and sisters. With respect to Irene’s wishes there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be at Fair Haven Funeral Home at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 5th, 2011. A reception will follow in the Garden View Room. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation or The Harvest House, Moncton.
