Obituary for Marian Scott

SCOTT, MARIAN ALBERTA (BROWN) - 1921 - 2014 - Marian A. Scott of Royal Court, Riverview passed away at The Moncton Hospital Sunday, August 17, 2014. She was born the 8th child of 13 in Kemptow, Nova Scotia and was the daughter the late of Daniel and Rachael (Christie) Brown. Marian was always a lady and supported her husband of 56 years as well as her six children and activities in the community of Oxford Junction. She was active in the United church there and organized children’s concerts, UCW and played for church both there and for many years at Royal Court. She received an award as Children’s Child Advocate in 2001 for her work with children who grew up in Oxford Junction over the years. She cared for her mother and mother-in-law at her home for several years and entertained members of both families. She is survived by her six children: Shirley Nauss, Riverview, Carolyn Scott, Truro, NS, Nettie (David) Soley, Economy, NS, Carl, Cobble Hill, BC, Ross (Sharon) Riverview, Dennis (Joan) Clarsholm, AB and a sister, Bertha Langille in Barss Corner, 12 grand children, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1996, her siblings, Gertrude Hilder, Albert, Andrew, Margaret Hoare, Jean Shaw, Fred, Edward, Donald, Alex, Rev Wilena Brown, Eva MacCrae and two grandchildren; Michael Tipping and Carol Ann Nauss. The funeral service will be held from Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 1 PM, with Rev. Steve Berube officiating. Donations to the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. The interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford, NS.
