In Loving Memory of Boyd Summers May 7, 1946It is with deep sadness that the family of Boyd Charles Summers announce his passing on February 19th, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Boyd was 69 years old and lived well through his cancer journey with incredible strength, courage and determination. He was predeceased by his dad, Charles Summers in 1979 and by two close relatives, his cousin Joyce Murphy and Betty Bursey . Boyd is lovingly remembered with treasured memories by his wife and best friend of 47 years Elaine (nee Pennell), his devoted sons Robin (Sandra), Chris (Kimberley) and adored daughter Nancy (Reed Bartlett). Poppy will be sadly missed by his cherished grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face, Julia and Ally Summers, Alex Summers and Belle, James and Drew Bartlett. Missing him immensely will be his mother, Agnes Summers and close brother Henry (Marilyn), sister in law Judy (Jim), brother in law Bill (Bonnie) and many special relatives including aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and cousins. His many good friends will surely miss him – his golf and pool buddies, card playing friends, his Pioneer Family of whom he had a special connection, as well as his friends from Computers for Schools and many other friends and neighbors all of who were very special to him. He will be remembered for his passion for volunteering, his kindness and compassion to others. His great smile and quick wit had a way of drawing people to him. Thank you to Dr. Siddiqui and the staff of the Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre for his care over the years, the Community Health Nurses Jean and Tina and A special thank you to Dr. Greg Sutton who truly went beyond in providing incredible care to Boyd and his family. As per Boyd’s wishes cremation has taken place. Your heartfelt feelings, stories and past remembrances can be shared with the family at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home in Kelligrews on Monday from 7 – 9 pm, Tuesday from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11 am from All Saints Anglican Church, Foxtrap. Inurnment in the Anglican Cemetery, Dunn’s Hill Road, Foxtrap. Donations in Boyd’s memory can be made to a charity close to his heart, some of which are The Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, The Diabetes Association, Cystic Fibrosis (NF Chapter), The Canadian Red Cross or a charity of one’s choice.
