Murphy, David Joseph Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Predeceased by his parents Robert J. Murphy and Loretta Murphy, brothers John and wife Madeline, Robert, and Paul, sisters Marie Freeman and husband Tom, Regina McBride, Judith Aspinall, and Janet Murphy. Survived by his wife Genevieve, daughter Sheilagh, sons Paul (Leslie), Gordon (Julia), and Michael (Amy), his grandchildren Bridget, Clarke, Otto, Daria, James, and Oliver, his sister Barbara Patterson and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. David was a retired school teacher, schooner captain, past president of the CBS Chamber of Commerce, and resident pirate of Topsail Beach. He was an active and outspoken volunteer in his community. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday from 7 – 9 pm, Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral Mass to take place on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:30 am from St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Manuels. Interment in the R. C. Cemetery, Topsail.
