We are so sorry to hear of John's passing. I've known if for a few years now and what a kind Remarkable man he was. When I would be working in goosebay area and would drop by the coffee shop he would always shake my hand and be so happy to hear how work was going in the area and had a great pride for the big land. We remember the family today and in the days ahead. May the peace of God be with ya all. Thanks for your accomplish in the big land John. Love and prayers Don & Lenora Eddy Charlottetown labrador

Vanessa and Family, I was deeply saddened to hear of Mayor Hickey's passing. He was a true advocate for the people of Labrador. I can remember each time that we took students from Mealy Mountain Collegiate for a MUN orientation how proud he would be to meet them, take them for supper and certainly acknowledge them in the House of Assembly. He would be so full of pride while doing so. He will be greatly missed by many!

To Peggy, Wendy and all of John's family, my heartfelt condolences. Although I didn't get to spend much time with John, the times we did share will be fondly remembered. His love of the outdoors, his outgoing vibrant personality and guitar solos around the campfire defined John and his love of life. He will be missed by all but he will always remain in our hearts and memories. Please let Diana and myself know if we can do anything for you. Love, Marshall.

Peggie, my heart is broken and I wish I could be with you. John was a special person to me in so many ways and I will miss him dearly. Everyone knew of his passion for Labrador, and no one wondered long about what he was thinking. Sometimes you could even see it coming! But few of us saw his love for you, his children and grandchildren, his family, and his best buds, Reg and Bubba. John had an even bigger heart for those special people in his life. I am honoured to say he was my friend and, like so many others, I will always remember his kindness, determination, perseverance, and especially his integrity. “It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.” Love, Debbie Singleton Victoria, BC
