Jerry Sidney James Weir

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of the late Jerry Sidney James Weir announce his passing on November 24, 2019 at the age of 63. Jerry was born in Springdale, Newfoundland on February 27, 1956 to Wilbert and Marie Weir of Little Bay Islands and was their only son. He was the town clerk of Little Bay Islands, Past President of Newfoundland’s Coalition of Persons with Disabilities, and a former layperson for the United Church of Canada. Jerry retired from a 30-year teaching career at HL Strong Academy as principal in 2011. He is predeceased by his mother in law and father in law, Rita and Lloyd Belben. Left to mourn and lovingly remember are his wife, Debbie; daughter, Chantelle (Frank); parents, Wilbert and Marie; sister, Carol (Dennis); nieces, Amanda (Paul) and Ashley (Chad); brother in law, Harrison (Sherry); and a long list of very special friends and relatives. Majors Joshua and Pauline Randell will conduct the funeral service at The Salvation Army Springdale Citadel on Sunday, December 1 at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers for the funeral service are David Anthony, Harrison Belben, Dennis Hull, Larry Locke, Carl Sheppard, and Frank Spurrell. Interment will be at Wesley United Church Cemetery in New Chelsea, Newfoundland on Monday, December 2 at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers for the interment are David Anthony, Harrison Belben, Harvey Hiscock, Matthew Jones, Ralph Pynn, and Frank Spurrell.
