Helen Noren Kehoe, aged 93, dies peacefully on May 15, 2015 in Strait Richmond Hospital.
Mom was born in Rocky Bay August 8, 1921, the daughter of Thomas Bowen and Mary Eva (Mae) Hearn. She left Rocky Bay at a young age to work in Soldiers Cove and Sydney before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where she served until the end of WWII. After returning to Rocky Bay, she married her beloved Howard and together they raised 14 children who were followed by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grand children.
Mom became fiercely independent following Dad's passing in 1974, earning her drivers license at the age of 52 and continuing to drive into her 90’s. She insisted in living in her own home, on her own terms and did so until 4 days before her passing with the help of her sidekicks, Heather and Brandie, to whom the family will forever be grateful for the kindness and compassion they showed Mom.
Besides her husband Howard, Helen was predeceased by her daughter Patricia in 2001 and grandson Nathan in 2011. She is also survived by her brother William "Billy" Bowen of Rocky Bay.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 20, 2015 from 6-9pm at IML Funeral Home, D'Escousse. (Former St Hyacinth Catholic Church). A celebration of her life will be held at 11am on Thursday,
