LANDRY, Joseph Elzear -74 - Petit De Grat - “Our Little Spitfire with a heart of gold”
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of a beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, godfather, uncle, cousin and friend, Elzear, who died on September 18, 2014. Born in Petit De Grat, he was the son of the late Francois & Mary (Samson) Landry.
Elzear worked at the Fisherman’s Coop and also owned a fishing boat with Edward Samson. He was a stoker on the lake boats for many years and loved cheering on his famous red caps, playing pool, cards, bingo and was a legionnaire and a proud active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 18 years.
Elzear will be deeply missed by his step mother Lillian Landry, Petit de Grat; two sisters Leah (Willard) Samson, Samson’s Cove; Edith (Walter) Boudreau, Petit De Grat; brother James (Anne) Landry, Little Anse; Francis (Catherine) Landry, Petit de Grat; nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, twin brother at infancy, his wife Marie Paule Plouffe, sisters Theresa Bullen and Jackie Landry.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd at 11:00am in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Petit De Grat with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating.
Burial in the Star of the Sea Cemetery will follow. Reception will follow at St Joseph’s Parish Hall in Petit de Grat. Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association of NS or to the Star of the Sea Cemetery.
