SAMSON, Margaret – 96 - Port Hawkesbury (Formerly of Petit De Grat)
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Samson announces her passing on Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, NS. Margaret died peacefully in the loving presence of her daughters Barbara, Cynthia and her son in law Archie Chisholm.
Born on the April 10, 1918 to Earnest and Stella Samson, she grew up in Petit De Grat with her father, Aunt Minnie, siblings Paul and Delore, worked in a lobster factory and married Joe Samson in 1948.
Petit De Grat was where she raised her eight children and it was her wish to make this her final resting place.
Margaret is survived by her children Joan (Tom MacLean), Barbara Samson, Adrian, Ronnie, Cynthia Samson, Carmella Samson (Wayne), son in law Archie Chisholm; grandchildren Brenda, Olivia, Claude, Sabrina, Danielle, Lindsay, Joe, Matthew, Sinley, Cynthia, Arron, Lillian; great grandchildren Candice, Madison, Aiden, Alexis, Ashley, Finley, Emma and Sofia.
Margaret is predeceased by husband Joe Samson, daughters Brenda Samson, Sandra Chisholm; brother Paul Samson, sister Delore David, god-daughter Sandra Brushett.
For thirteen years, she traveled to pilgrimages to Ste-Anne de Beaupré, which she looked forward to each summer. In 1996, she moved to Port Hawkesbury with her daughters Barbara, Cynthia, and Carmella.
Those closest to Margaret will tell you that she had a passion for hockey and there was no other team than the Montreal Canadians. She never missed a game and was their truest #1 fan. She also loved playing friendly card games such as contract, scat and poker. She always loved unconditionally, having her family close, loved her pets and always treated everyone equally. Strong family values and her faith in God will live on forever in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Close family and friends are welcome to attend a viewing in the church, one hour prior to the Funeral Mass which will be held on Thursday, February 12th at 10am in the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Granville St., Port Hawkesbury. Rev. Conrad will be officiating mass. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Canadian Red Cross, Port Hawkesbury.
