Elaine Smith, 67 of Hebron, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully April 14th, 2020 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. Elaine was born on August 23, 1952 to Olive and Eric Andrews in St John's, NL. She met and married John A.E. Smith (Jack) in 1975. They have two daughters Jennifer and Jody and as a military family they moved and lived abroad for twenty-four years, prior to retiring in Hebron, NS. Elaine was predeceased by her parents Olive and Eric Andrews, and brother Dave Andrews. Elaine is survived by her Husband Jack Smith, her Daughters Jennifer Richards (Paul) and Jody d'Entremont, and her four Grandchildren Lucas and Jack d'Entremont, and Isabella and Maya Richards. Her brothers in Newfoundland, Reg(Trudy), Derek, Fred (Judy), and Wayne (Janet) Andrews, and their children, Stacey, Scott, Chaz, Michael, Erica, Hailee, Ashley, and Heather. Elaine had a career in Early Childhood Education as a preschool teacher in Sherose Island and Greenwood NS as well as Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition, she worked in the NSCC Burridge cafeteria until she retired. Elaine's life was her home, family and friends. Her passions were travelling, gardening, cooking, sailing, camping, beach combing, and spoiling her four grandkids as much as possible. An avid nature lover, Elaine's favorite areas included Ellenwood, Cape Forchu and the Chebogue River. Extended heartfelt thanks to the teams of professionals who championed throughout this time, Dr Yee, the Yarmouth Regional Hospital Chemo Ward Angels, all the other doctors, nurses and support staff at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, the QEII In Halifax , the Yarmouth VON and Elaine's family and friends. Arrangements and Cremation have been intrusted to Sweeney’s Funeral and interment to follow in the Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. There will be no visitation or funeral as per Elaine's request. A celebration of life will take place at a future date. The family asks that donations may be made in the memory of Elaine to the Gilles Boudreau & Friends Cancer Help Fund, The Lodge that Gives or The Yarmouth Victoria Order of Nurses.
