Obituary
HUBBARD Joseph Wallace “Wally” – age 85 of Ocean breeze Estates passed away on September 30, 2017 surrounded by family at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth on June 29, 1932; he was the son of Thomas and Ruby (Crowell) Hubbard. He was a licensed Optician for over 50 years and was a founding board member for the N.S.S.D.O. of Nova Scotia and past president. In earlier years at St. Ambrose he was CYC Director and an usher for 60 years. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus (2181 Yarmouth ) where he was Grand Knight for 5 years, and District Deputy for 4 years. He served on State Council on Scholarship Committees, Charitable Foundation and Family Director, as well as past faithful navigator of the 4th Degree. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Maureen(Grattan); daughters Lori (Steffen) Hahn of Pictou, Linda Robicheau of Yarmouth; a sister Violet Burnes of Shediac, New Brunswick, brother in law Jim (Jean) Grattan of Sussex, New Brunswick. Grand children, Michael and Blair Doucette of B.C., Jason, Nicole and Cory of Yarmouth and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Cathy Hubbard, sisters Myrtle, Mable, Evangeline, Lorraine and brothers Cecil, Bernard and Clarence. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 3rd from 7-9p.m. followed by prayers at 8:00 pm at Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday October 4th at 11:00 a.m. from St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral with Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. Following the burial at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery a reception will be held in the Jubilee room. Donations in memory may be made to the Tri County VON or the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or to Charity of Choice.
