GOUDEY Thomas Howard – age 84 of Roseway Manor in Sandy point, Shelburne Co., and formerly of Yarmouth Nova Scotia, passed away on September 10, 2017 at Roseway Manor. Born in Chegoggin, Yarmouth Co. on September 16, 1932 to the late Thomas and Gladys (Moses) Goudey and raised in Port Maitland, Yarmouth County. He married Martha O'Connell and moved to Yarmouth Town in the 1950s finding employment with an Agency of British American Oil and worked in the Oil Industry for over 40 years before retirement. Thomas and Martha were blessed with children; sons, Ronald of Yarmouth; Donald of Chebogue, Yarmouth County; Eric of Woodstock, Ont; and Daughter, Cynthia of Aylmer, Ont; as well as 10 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Thomas was an active member of the community including Lodge and Service work where served as Master of Scotia Lodge No.31 AF & AM Yarmouth,N.S. He served a term also as President of the Yarmouth Lions Club and for a period of 15 years joined with wife Martha in providing a foster home for children. In his spare time he was interested in sports served 3 years as president of the Yarmouth Softball League and 6 years on the executive of the Sports Heritage Association. Besides his parents Thomas was predeceased by sisters, Jacqueline Doucette and Helen Doucette. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation by Thomas’s request. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017 from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Moses officiating. Interment will follow in Port Maitland/Beaver River Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
