John Gilverson

GILVERSON, John Walker of Acton, Ontario (formerly of Sarnia, Ontario) January 14, 1930 – August 5, 2017 Peacefully on August 5th, 2017 at Georgetown Hospital's Complex Continuing Care Unit, John passed away with his family by his side at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Rauni (Laakso) for 67 years. Loving father of Lynn (Len) Barrett, Pam (Ramakanta) Gilverson, Barb (Doug) Rogers, Ted Gilverson and Sandra (Bobby) Burnell. He will be missed by his grandchildren Ben (Cathy) Barrett, Andrea (Paul) Stumpf, John Oravec, Paula Gilverson, Rob (Alanna) Oravec, Karina Gilverson, Teddy Gilverson, K.C. Burnell and Robyn (Scott) Diebolt. Great grandfather of 7, with another on the way. Dear brother of Barbara (Andrew) Borbas. Predeceased by his parents, Albert Burdett and Eadith Walker (nee Sorley) Gilverson, his sister Patricia (Bud) Knight and his brother Albert Edward (Ted) Gilverson (R.C.A.F.). John was born in Toronto and moved to Sarnia in 1949. He worked at Polysar, was a landlord and owner/operator of a small local business. He loved dancing, theater, reading and golfing with friends but mostly spending time with his family. What a great legacy he has left in the hearts of each of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A private family gathering will be held at the family home, with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto at a later date.
