Obituary for Leonard Joseph Mullin

MULLIN, Leonard Joseph “Len”
On Saturday afternoon, April 18th, 2009 at the age of 90 years. Beloved son of the late Mary Ellen (nee Hogan) and Joseph H. Mullin. Loving and cherished father of Noreen (Joe Lamorie), Kate (Tim Wardrop) and Patricia (Marty Smith). Leonard bravely mourned close family members who pre-deceased him – an infant son, John (1945), his dearly beloved wife, Frances Mullin (nee Foran) (1978), his son and daughter-in-law Donald (2003) and Rosie (2002) and his grandson Jonathan Mullin Smith (2003). Len will now join them in heaven. Leonard is also pre-deceased by his brothers Leonard (in infancy), Gregory (late Margaret), Joseph (in childhood) and his sister Callista Aldrich (late George). Dear “Gramps” to Neal, Gen (Steve Wallace), Stephen (Charlie MacDowall), Katie (Dave Langley), Emma, Andrea, Ellen, Michael and his newly born, and first great grand-daughter, Maggie Belle Lamorie. He will be fondly remembered by his many sisters and brothers in-law and nieces and nephews. And, he will be missed by his friends at the Arnprior Villa, PJ’s restaurant and euchre-playing groups. Leonard’s positive attitude and unwavering faith in God touched everyone he encountered throughout his long life. In his strength he was a role model for many. He was a life Member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight. Leonard joined the RCAF as a young man serving in the remote community of Fogo Island, Newfoundland. During his career at the National Research Council in Ottawa, he made many close and long-lasting friendships. His professional work-life was cut short when he experienced serious health problems in his 40s. Leonard recovered with the love of family and friends and the faith that bestowed him. He actively contributed to his church and community for many years thereafter. Friends may join us for visitation at the Pilon Family Funeral Home, 50 John Street North, Arnprior on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and after 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Chrysostom Church, Arnprior on Wednesday, April 22nd at 12 o’clock noon. Interment Malloch Road Cemetery.
