COWTAN, Albert Charles - Peacefully with his family at his side at Belleville General Hospital on April 18th in his 88th year. Loving and devoted husband of Margaret Edith (Grayston). Cherished father of Elizabeth Cowtan of Trenton, Mary Jane Phillips of Baysville, Bonnie Greflund and her husband Bent of Aurora, and Robert Charles of Ottawa. Albert was a loving and playful Papa to Torren and Kelly Jacobsen Phillips, Elizabeth and Brian Greflund, and Dayna and Brianna Cowtan. Proud great-grandfather of Lucas Charles Jacobsen. Brother of Elsie (Poppy) and William of Ottawa, Phyllis of Toronto and David of Prince Edward County. Pre-deceased by Mary (Molly), Alice (Mickey), Thomas and Stanley. Albert was retired from the RCAF (and CAF) after serving for 32 years and actively served his community until his death. Member of Saint George's Anglican Church and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 110. A generous supporter of the National Air Museum, Trenton Memorial Hospital, Trenton Food Bank, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Terry Fox Foundation and the Ontario SPCA. Albert will be remembered in the community for his kindness and good humour. His spirit has found a place with his Father in Heaven. Special thanks to Dr. Heffernan of Belleville ICU and for the kind and compassionate support of his nurses Sam and Julie. The family will receive friends at the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE, 60 Division Street, Trenton on Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #110 will assemble at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Service will be held from Saint George's Anglican Church, 9 Byron Street, Trenton on Thursday, April 21st, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. The Venerable Jim McShane officiating. Interment St. George's Cemetery. Donations in memory of Albert can be made to one of the organizations mentioned above.
