GRILLS, EVELYN KATHERINE - Peacefully at the Friendly Manor Nursing Home, Deseronto on Monday, October 2nd, 2017. Evelyn Grills (nee York) of R. R. #6, Belleville in her 96th year. Daughter of the late Leonard & Ethel York (nee Moxam) and daughter-in-law of the late Harry & Alida Grills. Wife of the late Clinton M. Grills. Loving mother of Sherry Green, John (Anna), Harry (Marg), Larry (Bonnie) and Steve (Dale). Lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren & great grandchildren. Sister of Thomas York (Agnes). Remembered by her brother-in-law Bob Watson. Predeceased by her sister Lorna York, her sister-in-law Virginia Grills and her brother-in-law Carmen Clapp. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Special parent of Charles (deceased) and Marg Clapp, Norman Clapp (Doris), Robert Clapp, Mary Ellen Rowland (Ted), Bill Clapp (Louella), Linda Salisbury (Bill), Carolyn Morrison, and Carol Carlington (Dalton). Evelyn was educated in Bancroft and graduated from Bancroft High School. After raising her children, she worked for Sam Dean’s Abattoirs in Belleville for 25 years. Evelyn enjoyed farming, camping, and the outdoors at her trailer at Hawkins Bay (Tweed) with her husband Clinton. She was a wonderful seamstress, enjoyed cooking and was always very proud of her colourful flower beds. The family wishes to extend their deep thanks to the entire staff at Friendly Manor Nursing Home in Deseronto for all their care and compassion towards Evelyn during her final days. At the family’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation arrangements entrusted to the John R. Bush Funeral Home, 80 Highland Avenue, Belleville (613-968-5588). Graveside interment service will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery, 412 River Road, Corbyville on Wednesday, October 11th, 2017 at 11 a.m. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
