John Duff Dewar

Dewar, John Duff, passed away peacefully at the E.J. McQuigge Lodge on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 at age 84 years. Our Dad, was born in Montague, PEI . He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and then at Warkworth Penitentiary until his retirement to Brighton, where he became active in the Lion’s Club for many years. He spent his winters in Florida and enjoyed gardening in the summer in Brighton. To those who knew and respected him a great deal, he was affectionately known as “Mr. D”. He will be missed by his close friends Jim and Annabelle Montgomery and Ron and Rita Howe. Remembered by his daughters Deby (Glen) of Halifax, Barbara (Heather) of St. Catharines, Donna (Terry) of Belleville and son John (JoAnn) of Manotick and granddaughter Vicki (Chris) of Toronto. Sadly missed as well by his many relatives in PEI. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Pearl Dewar, his brother Paul Dewar and sister-in-law Sybil Dewar. Thanks to the staff at E.J. McQuigge for their kindness during Dad’s stay and special thanks to Loretta. “We will miss you Dad” At John’s request, cremation will take place. Private graveside service at White’s Cemetery, Bayside, where John will be interred with his wife Doris (Matheson) Dewar. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Brighton Lion’s Club , would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements in care of the Walas Funeral Home, Brighton.
