John Wilson

WILSON, JOHN THOMAS CHARLES “John T.” It is with great sadness that the family of John Thomas Wilson announces his passing on Thursday October 25, 2018, at the age of 79 years. Dad will be forever remembered by his children, Arlene, Lynn (Craig), Gail, and John. He gave the best hugs and always knew when we needed one. His family was his greatest achievement and joy. Poppa loved his grandchildren who were a great source of pride; Liam, Chelsea, Tyler, Seiom, Kieran, Lindsay, Ryan, Julie, Emily, Ryme, Olivia and Isaac. Loving companion of Betty. They enjoyed lots of love, laughter and fun together, whether they were in Cape Breton, Ontario or Alberta. John T. was the oldest of 13 children, and leaves behind siblings Kay, Stevie, Cheryl, Elaine, Dolena, Billy, Mary Arlene, Leslie, and Regie. John was predeceased by wife Karen (nee Donovan), dear son Jason, brothers Gordie and Kenny, and sister Glenda. John T. has many nieces, nephews, cousins throughout Canada. John T. worked for 33 years in various coal mines in Cape Breton as a welder and electrician. He was very social and made friends everywhere. He enjoyed dancing, movies, cards, checkers, darts, reading and any opportunity for "tom foolery". He loved sports, especially baseball and was a huge fan of The Toronto Blue Jays. Hockey was another passion and he was a devoted Montreal Canadians fan. He had many friends in Wellington and Belleville, On and Glace Bay, N.S. which enriched his life greatly. He was definitely "one of a kind”. John T. is resting at the John R. Bush Funeral Home, 80 Highland Avenue, Belleville (613-968-5588). A Private Liturgy of the Word Service and Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Service will be held and followed by cremation. John T. and his son Jason, will be interred in the Summer of 2019 in the family plot at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences at: www.rushnellfamilyservices.com
