Joyce Nott Belleville, Ontario Obituary

Joyce Nott

NOTT, Joyce Gwyneth (1919-2011) - died peacefully on 02 July 2011. Predeceased by her beloved husband Ray Nott and her granddaughter Andrea Lynne Nott, as well as her parents, Forbes and Jessie Macadam and her brothers Gordon and Russell. Left to mourn her are her son Kenneth (Linda), grandchildren Erin and Adam, all of Oshawa, her devoted sister Joan (late Warren) Chippindale of Westmount, Quebec as well as many nieces and nephews across Canada. Being an Air Force wife, she and Ray spent time at most of the Canadian Armed Forces bases. They had lived in Trenton several times before actually retiring there. Joyce touched the lives of many people all across Canada. Her nursing career brought her into contact with hospitals and clinics and people from coast to coast. She was also a school nurse for some years--and had the great joy of watching so many of the students grow into happy and productive adults. While having at one time worked for the Victorian Order of Nurses in Ottawa--her passion for the VON kept her occupied there for most of the rest of her life as a valued and passionate volunteer. With her many artistic talents she created beautiful cards for use by the VON and served on several of their care committees. In 2001 she was named "VON Canada--International Volunteer of the Year" (having first won for the Trenton area, the Province of Ontario--and then Canada). She was equally as passionate in her involvement and beliefs in her Church. She had been a member of the Easter Star for several decades--holding many offices. The Lionesses' organization also benefited from her valuable organizational capabilities. Being an avid reader, the local Library played an important role in her life and she was most generous in her support of same. As has been said so many times--she spent her whole life serving God and Humanity. She will be missed by all who knew her--but she is now in a safe and wonderful place--reunited with her Ray. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Crown Residence for their kind and compassionate care. We would particularly like to thank our special Bonnie Newbery who was so unstinting in her help, her friendship and her love for Joyce. And to the multitude of friends who seem to have been there for a lifetime--thank you for your love and respect--and your support. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held from the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Trenton on Wednesday, 20 July 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Reverend Donald MacLeod officiating. A Reception will follow at the Church and all are invited to attend. Joyce will be laid to rest peacefully forever with her beloved Ray in St. George's Cemetery. Memorial Donations to The Andrea Nott Memorial Scholarship Fund (c/o Alumni House, University of Guelph, Guelph, ON N1G 2Q1) would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE, 60 Division Street, Trenton (613-392-2111).
