Lawrence 'Laurie' Whyte

WHYTE, Lawrence "Laurie" Vincent - passed away peacefully at the Trenton Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 26th, 2010. Laurie was born on June 28, 1920 in Kennedy, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1939 and served during World War II as a Bomber Pilot for the 424 Tiger Squadron. Survived by his beloved wife Madeline (Coughlin) Whyte. Madeline and Laurie have celebrated 68 years of marriage. Loving father to Bruce Whyte of Toronto, Corley Hughes and her husband Gerry of Okotoks, AB and Bonné Bassett and her husband Lorne (Pre-deceased) of Trenton. Also remembered by his loving brother Allan Whyte, his wife Margaret and their family of Surrey, BC. Grandpa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Chris Bassett (Debbie), Vicki Bassett, Kathy Davis (Paul), Lisa Corkill (Dave), Trish Kennedy, Greg Bassett (Angie), Jason Hughes, Marnie MacKay (Guy) and also fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE, 60 Division Street, Trenton on Tuesday, November 30th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Peter's Church, Trenton on Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 at 11 a.m. Father Paul Njoku officiating. Cremation to follow. Reception to be held after Mass at The Knights of Columbus Hall. If desired, Memorial Donations to the Alzheimer Society or Quinte Access Transportation would be desired.
