Leopold 'Paul' Brown Obituary

BROWN, Paul (Bell Canada, Retiree) - Unexpectedly, after a week of feeling very tired, Paul passed away on May 6, 2010 at 86 years of age, from kidney failure. His death was gentle, without pain and with his daughter by his side. He is now reunited with the love of his life, his beloved Millie (2005). Left to mourn are his daughter Carol, his son Bob, their partners, his grandsons Ryan Hennessy (Aimee) and Derek and great-granddaughters Ella and Grace, whom he adored. Paul grew up in Maisoneuve, son of Florence (Perrault) and George Brown and brothers John and Lou, all deceased. Paul was a Navy Gunner during WWII and onboard landing craft (LCB) on D-Day in Normandy. Paul never talked about his experiences on that day and could only watch Saving Private Ryan once, but he had absolutely hilarious stories about his Navy days. However, he would later tell his daughter that he’d be “most unhappy” (translation: Don’t even think about it, kid!!) if she ever dated a sailor. Millie and Paul married in 1946, he joined Bell Canada in 1948 and they started their family. Their home was filled with love, laughter, respect and the best cook in the world. Paul rescued abused dogs, children and women, to their owner’s, father’s and husband’s regret. He was also intolerant of stupidity, rudeness, bullies and braggarts. Paul was mostly a gentle man, always smiling, with a great sense of humour, strength of character and dignity. We could not have asked for better parents. Cremation has taken place and Paul’s ashes will join with Millie’s, as they wanted. They are greatly missed. If desired, Memorial Donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE, 60 Division Street, Trenton, ON (613-392-2111).
