Madeline Barron Obituary

BARRON, Madeline
November 29, 1915 - October 29, 2015

Passed away at the Hope Street Terrace Nursing Home, Port Hope, on Thursday, October 29th, 2015 in her 100th year. Daughter of the late Lindsay and Mary Neal. Beloved wife of James Barron (deceased). Mother of Joan Dolson (Murray Johnston), James Barron, Peter Barron (Linda), and infant son Phillip Barron. She is pre-deceased by sisters Jean Neal, Kathleen Bateman (late George), and brothers Don (Doris), Cecil (late Verna), Victor (late Arlie), Tom (Carol) and Jim (Thelma). Proud grandmother of Delphine Dolson (Peter Hargrove), Jim Dolson (Jane McGlade), Terry Dolson (Cherry Mitchell), Chris Dolson (Michelle McDonald), Scott Barron, Mark Barron, Amy Williamson (Dorian), Stacey Toste (Robert). Great grandmother to Tara Dolson, Nichole Buckham (Rob), Derek Dolson, Kate Dolson, Sarah Dolson, Oksana Dolson, Alex Dolson, Dylan Dolson, Janna Dolson, Grace Dolson, Taylor Young, Nora Williamson, Madeline Toste. Great-great grandmother to Sebastian Buckham & Isbaella Buckham. Madeline’s life centered around her family. She hosted Boxing Day dinners for the whole family, justifiably proud of her raspberry and butterscotch pies. Her interests included cooking, sewing, knitting, quilting, and shopping. She was a member of the Bethel Women’s Institute for years. An avid follower of politics, she was a devoted supporter of the Conservative party. Until the last two years, she lived independently, holding a valid driver’s license until 98 years of age. Due to declining health, she required hospitalization and then long term care. Many thanks to the people who helped her in the last few years of her life. Special thanks to Wanda Burrows and all the caring staff at the Hope Street Terrace, Port Hope. Her two granddaughters Amy and Stacey devoted their time to visiting their grandmother in the nursing home almost daily. There will be visitation at 11:00a.m. On Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Stirling Funeral Chapel, 87 James Street, Stirling (613-395-2424). The funeral service will follow at 12:30 with Interment at Bethel Cemetery. If desired, donations to the charity of your choice in Madeline’s memory would be appreciated.
