Mary Daicar Obituary

MARY DAICAR (August 19, 1914 - May 8, 2010) It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing away of our beloved Mother and Babi in her 96th year. Born in Brusperk, Czechoslovakia, at the age of 29 she sailed to Canada only intending to stay a few years. The war put an end to those plans. On April 25, 1942, she married Otto Daicar, who predeceased her in August 1991. She lived many years in Batawa and Toronto, spending wonderful summers at the family cottage on Crowe Lake, near Marmora, Ont. In 2001 she came to live with her daughter in Vancouver. Left to celebrate her life and her love are her daughters Eva (Henry) and Zdena, grandchildren Zach and Lisa, extended family in Kingston, Ont. and the Czech Republic. Resting at the FRANKFORD FUNERAL CHAPEL, 40 North Trent St, Frankford (613-398-6400). Visitation Friday from 2 - 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Batawa on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11 a.m. Father Stéphane Pouliot officiating. Interment St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke or Cystic Fibrosis Foundations would be appreciated. "You can shed tears that she has gone or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back or you can open your eyes and see all she's left".
