Philip Flagler

Flagler, Philip (Phil) Russell - (January 9, 1925 - March 27, 2012). Retired CJBQ Radio - Quinte Broadcasting Co. Ltd. World War II, RCNVR, Telegraphist, HMCS Carlplace- Peacefully at the Belleville General Hospital at 6:40 p.m. with family at his side, in his 88th year. Resided at RR#5 Belleville and the Bayview Retirement Residence. Belleville. Only son of Mary Ellen Flagler (nee McGuire) and Henry Russell Flagler. Husband of Helen (nee Boyd, deceased July 5, 2009). Father of Sandra of Toronto, Carol of Mississauga (the late Reg Phillips), Mark of Cloyne (Kathy) and Philip Jr. of Toronto (Noreen Murphy). Pa to Tracey Gerald and Corey Flagler, and Grandpa to Crystal Phillips. On December 12th, 2010 Phil faced the challenge of receiving a new heart valve, followed by a three month recovery in Toronto General Hospital and rehabilitation in the Sills Wing of Belleville General Hospital. Upon discharge he moved to Bayview Retirement Residence where he continued to live an active life. We are grateful to family, friends and members of the community for their kindness and support over these past few years, especially his niece Beth Burns (nee Boyd, Sherman) and his nephew-in-law George McDonald (the late Ruth Boyd). Phil was the loving protector of and advocate for Helen during her long battle with Alzheimers. A lifelong resident of Belleville he and Helen who were married for 62 years, enjoyed life of many interests: fishing, antiquing,cooking, reading and much more. He will be missed. Friends may call at the John R. Bush Funeral Home, 80 Highland Ave. Belleville (613-968-5588) on Friday from 6- 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Michael the Archangel Church on Saturday March 31st, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. There will also be a visitation at John R. Bush Funeral Home on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. Father Richard Whalen officiating. Interment Belleville Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Gleaner's Food Bank, P.O.
