Badour, Ruby Lawanda- It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Ruby Badour, at Kingston General Hospital on Sept. 6th, 2011. Ruby was born at home in Sharbot Lake on July 4, 1934, the ninth child of eleven to Porter and Elsie Badour and although she lived at various times in other communities, her roots were deeply embedded in Sharbot Lake. Ruby was a strong-willed force to be reckoned with and that "will" was seen in her valiant battle with death until the very end. She passed away in the loving arms of her children and is survived by her first family- Elaine (Paul), Jeannette, Robin, Nelson and her second family Allan (Carol), Randy, LaWanda (Kevin) and their father Bud Badour. She was predeceased by adult son Stan and infants Lawrence, Jacob and Roberta. Ruby is also survived by brothers Jim and Doug and sister Lorna, and predeceased by siblings Nelson, Buzz, Madeleine, Maynard, Phyllis, Daisy, Joan all of whom she loved deeply. Also surviving Ruby are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved. She will be lovingly missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Ruby was a member of the Sharbot Obaadjiwan First Nation and was proud of her Native heritage. She will be missed by her native community and many friends of long-standing. At Ruby's request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at the Oso Township Hall in Sharbot Lake on Friday September 9th, 2011 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Oconto Cemetery. Chief Doreen Davis from the Sharbot Obaadjiwan community will lead in a graveside Native service. Funeral Arrangments entrusted to the John R. As expressions of sympathy the family suggests a memorial donation in Ruby's name to the Neo-Natal I.C.U. at Kingston General Hospital, a cause that was close to Ruby's heart.
