Shirley Morton Obituary

MORTON, SHIRLEY CALDER (nee McIntosh) May 24, 1921 – June 4, 2013 Died peacefully at Hastings Manor with family by her side. Shirley was predeceased in 2005 by her husband Ralph Morton after 59 years of marriage. She was the much loved mother of John and his partner Frances of Ottawa, Jane and her husband James of Toronto, and Sheila of Ottawa. Shirley is survived by her sisters-in-law Norma McIntosh, Isobel Robinson, and Vera Morton, and by brother-in-law Mac Smith. She is predeceased by her brothers Douglas and Murray McIntosh. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Shirley was a life-long resident of Belleville and was fortunate to have had many close friends over the years with whom she loved to share her quick wit and welcoming hospitality. Shirley always loved a good laugh! The Morton family has heartfelt gratitude for the nurses and staff at Hastings Manor and Dr Kim MacLeod for providing Shirley with such loving care. Funeral service will be held at the John R. Bush Funeral Home, 80 Highland Ave, Belleville (613-968-5588) on Saturday, June 15th at 11am. There will be a short visitation before the ceremony. Cremation and interment in the Belleville Cemetery Columbarium will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Hastings Manor Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. On-line condolences at www.rushnellfamilyservices.com
