Sykes, Wilfred Ray at the Burnbrae Gardens Nursing Home, Campbellford on Sunday, October 3rd, 2010, age 99 years. Wilfred Sykes of Warkworth, beloved husband of more than 60 years to Jean (Clysdale) 1908-1994. They resided all of their married life at RR#5 Warkworth. Proud and supportive father to Ed and his wife Marg, the late Donald (1937 – 1972), Shirley and her husband Terry, Ruth and the late Joe, Willa and her husband Ralph, Ralph and his wife Valerie. Many happy occasions were shared with grandchildren, Les and wife Sandra, the late Ken and wife Corliss, Peggy, Anne and husband Jamie, Lynne and husband Lyle, Christina and John, Clinton, Cynthia and fiancee James, Allan and Korina, Cathy and husband Dan, Holly and husband David, and great grandchildren, Jesse, Aaron, Benjamin, Brandon, Caleb, Katelynne, Mackenzie, Courtenay, Carissa, Taylor, Jocelyn, Kara, Cora, and Carter. Predeceased by his brother Gerald and his wife Audrey. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Walas Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Warkworth on Thursday from 11 o’clock. Service in the funeral home on Thursday, October 7th, 2010 at 1 o’clock. Interment Warkworth Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Cancer Society, St. Paul’s United Church, Warkworth, or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. Dad was a strong, kind, independent man who handled life’s joys and tragedies with a calm strength that developed the best in those around him, especially his family.
