David Paton – July 5, 1933 to January 17, 2020

David Paton passed away peacefully, in his home, on January 17, 2020 after a brief illness. He was 86 years old. David is now free to dance once more with his beloved late wife, Mary. He was a devoted father to his son Andy (Glenna) and daughter Diane (Vance) and the loving grandpa to Gavin, Travis and Mirren. David is survived by his sister Alice Thompson of New Stephenson, Scotland.

David was a proud Scotsman and an even prouder Canadian. He was a master, carpenter with big hands and an even bigger heart. His stories were legend. He was, over the years, a milk delivery boy, a gymnast, a pipe band drummer, a British Army paratrooper, a touring cyclist, a ballroom dancer, a hockey and lacrosse coach, a die-hard Leafs fan, an avid golfer, a mentor and a community volunteer. He lived life to its fullest, taking up church choir and Scottish country dancing as a senior and zip lining at the age of 80! His outgoing personality and passion for good conversation will be fondly remembered by many neighbors, countless friends and extended family in Canada, Scotland and beyond. Auld Lang Syne, Jimmy!

A celebration of life party will be held at a later date. Donations in David’s memory to Big Brothers and Sisters of Clarington or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
