Norma Theresa Daly (nee Bickell) died peacefully with family at her side, in Creditview Hospital on Friday, April 21st 2017 in Mississauga, Ontario at the age of 90. She will be deeply missed. Norma is survived by her sister Eileen Reid, her daughters Lynne Bracken (Joe) and Janet Langley, her grandchildren, Jen Langley (Dan Caulfield) and Stephanie Langley (Warren Racz) Drew Bracken (Gwendolyn) and Kevin Bracken and her great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Daly and her sisters Delphine and Phyllis. Norma was born on December 12th 1926 in Toronto, Ontario to Marie and Percival Bickell. She grew up on Riverside Drive in Toronto and graduated from St Joseph's College School. After working for as a dental assistant for a year she married Kenneth Daly. Together they built the family home on Meadowbank Rd in Etobicoke. Norma enjoyed staying at home to raise her family, and was proud of her strong independent daughters. Later, she worked for 25 years as a service representative for Manpower Temporary Services where she was well known for her people skills and her sense of style. She successfully challenged the Ontario Municipal Board and prevented the construction of major building development behind her home. Norma travelled the world with her family and did not let a broken ankle stop her from climbing the Great Wall of China while travelling on the Trans Siberian Express, through the USSR, Mongolia and China. She enjoyed going to the theatre and she also acted in community productions, such as "Importance of Being Ernest" where her performance was noted in the newspaper. In her final years she lived in the caring community of the Beechwood Retirement Residence. She enjoyed visits with her family especially with her great -grandchildren Simon, Victoria and Felicity. Her dry humour, her sense of style, her curiosity and her willingness to step in when needed will be amongst her qualities most missed. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30am Friday, April 28th 2017 at St Mary's Church, 66A Main Street South, Brampton. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Norma's life. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, The Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice
