Sherri McElveny Obituary

Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Sherri is survived by her husband of 41 years Derek; daughters Katie (Dan Johnson), Karli (Andrew Bak); sisters Gayle (Dave Singleton), Bev (Brian Parks), sister in law and brother in law Sally and Bill Coxhead; predeceased by Kathy MacFadyen; parents Kaye and Don MacFadyen and in-laws Phyllis and Douglas McElveny. She will forever miss her beautiful grandchildren Kamrynn and Owen (Johnson), Nolan and Lawson (Bak); nieces and nephews Stacey and Matthew (Singleton), Becky Seibert, Ryan Parks, Scott MacFadyen and their families. Sherri was born and raised in Brantford, specifically Westdale, a neighbourhood she was immensely proud of. Although she left the neighbourhood after marriage, “…you never take Westdale out of the girl.” She enjoyed her years of employment with the T-D Bank; Canada Trust; the W. Ross McDonald School for the Blind (retired 2010 having been a teacher and consultant for individuals with visual impairment; her involvement with Grace Anglican Church; as well as numerous charity and community groups. Sherri loved people. She was in her element organizing a gathering of family and friends providing us all with memories that will be passed from generation to generation. We will be forever grateful for all the love and support of family and friends that has been provided to us over the years, particularly these last few months. We are also thankful for the staff of the Brantford General Hospital specifically the Cancer Clinic, Radiology Department and the Palliative Care Unit. Friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Service in the chapel on Friday at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers Sherri would appreciate donations to either the Brantford General Hospital, Oncology Department or Crossing all Bridges.
